Career Development Center Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta conducted a webinar entitle Preparing Your English Skill. On this occasion, CDC UMY invited Eurico Muller the English teacher for Indonesian’s learners who had taught English language in Indonesia for about ten years as the speaker. This webinar was conducted on Saturday, 6th of March 2021. The purpose of this agenda was to equip both students and alumni about the importance of English language.
Eurico Muller mentioned that learning a language especially English language needs a long process. Therefore, the first step was planning the goals that needs to be reached in learning English, the sooner you start, the better. The method implemented to learn English was various, such as watching movie or YouTube, listening to a podcast, and reading an English book. The point was that to find a motivation in learning English language and focus on implementing the activities.
The webinar event conducted by CDC UMY had succeed to grab both students and alumni interests. It can be proven that there were 50 participants sign up for this event.
Besides, the Head of Students and Alumni Affairs UMY, Faris Al-Fadhat, Ph.D. emphasized that English language was very crucial especially for young generation. Even thought it was not the absolute factor, it should have opened the window of opportunity. (WK)
